Whiteboard Video Statistics

When the Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network hired Exaltus to produce a series of whiteboard videos for them, we were up for the challenge and very happy to support such an important cause.

The network then went on to study the impact that watching the videos had on viewers’ knowledge, confidence levels and motivation to act. What follows are highlights of the whiteboard video statistics that came out of their study.

Whiteboard Video Statistic Highlights

Background and Method

The study focused on the Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network, which was deeply concerned about the use of potentially inappropriate medications among Canadian seniors.

They wanted to see if whiteboard animation could empower healthcare providers to deprescribe the medications. To that end, they hired Exaltus to produce a series of whiteboard videos.

Then, they asked their networks to promote the videos on social media. In the end, 368 unique participants were asked to fill out a survey before and after watching the videos.

The Video Strategy

Our video series consisted of four videos. The first, our introductory video, focused on debunking the myths around deprescribing. The remaining three videos each focused on deprescribing three common classes of potentially inappropriate medications:

Subject knowledge

The study evaluated the impact of whiteboard videos on subject knowledge in two ways:

1After watching the medication class whiteboard videos, respondents were asked whether they’d gained new skills and knowledge as a result. As shown in the chart below, more than 85% of respondents said they had.

2Respondents were quizzed about the videos’ content before and after watching the videos. Quiz scores soared after they watched the videos.
